Just a Dream

" Wake up sunshine "

" No, let me sleep, I want more sleep ", she mumbled under her breath.

He didn't heed to her mumbling and walked towards the window to draw the curtains. She wasn't bothered by his childish gestures and just turned the other way and continued sleeping. He was both amazed by her determination to sleep and also frustrated that she completely ignored his attempt to wake her up.

"Hmphh"

He sat at the edge of her beautifully carved oak wood bed and a wonderfully soft mattress and started to brainstorm for ways to wake her up without harming anyone. " Aha, I'll pour cold water on her face" , he exclaimed out of excitement .

" No idiot! Don't you remember what happened the last time you did that ?  A whole week of the dreaded - Silent Treatment.

" Right , I almost forgot"

After what seemed like forever , he finally came up with a rather clever idea.

" Get off me Avi, seriously dude let me sleep"

" Whoa easy there princess, what's up with the crazy ninja skills" , he chuckled.

He was trying to calm her down while pulling her off the bed. She finally gave in and and stormed to the bathroom.

" Come down fast princess, it sure would be a shame to see your favorite waffle and maple syrup become cold before you could dig into it"

" I'll be down in 15 minutes and don't you dare eat without me ", she yelled from the bathroom.

**** Eclipse Dance Studio****

" Keep your toes pointed. Okay let's do this once more " , Raagz said in his serious diva tone.

Mr Anuraag or either better known as Raagz, is a well renouned choreographer and he is also the owner of Eclipse Dance Studio. His two stars pupils were Geethanjali and Avinash.

" Geetha please stay back, we have some business to deal with"

"Okay" , Geetha said while wondering what's this new business preposition Raagz has on his mind. Raagz has been trying to get her to join him on his world tour but she had politely declined his offer. She had other things on her mind - overdue assignments. There was a hot cup of tea waiting for her when she entered Raagz room.

"Hmm, I guess this is going to talk a while. I better let Avi know"

Meanwhile Avinash was back at the creative room , trying to figure out dance steps for the latest hit song - Nagada Dol. The studio was invited to perform at a wedding dinner, and Avi was head choreographer for this gig.

"Sunn Raha Hai Na Tu" (Avi's , message ring tone)

He quickly texted back - Take your time Geets , meet me at the creative room when your done :) .

Geetha walked around Raagz office while sipping her Bombay Mumbai Chai when she stumbled upon an envelope on Raagz custom made teak wood table. It was send from the Cambridge School of Performing Arts , United Kingdom - among the best dance schools in the world.

"Wait a second. Isn't that my name"

She rubbed her eyes and read the name of the recipient of the letter once more. " Miss Geethanjali Nair". She just froze and couldn't comprehend what she just read.

" Geetha , it's not a joke . You really got accepted to Cambridge School of Performing Arts."

She was still trying to digest the recent incident while walking to the Creative Room.

" Geets . So what was the whole meeting about ? Is he still trying to get you to join him for the world tour? , Avi questioned her.

When she didn't respond to his endless questions, he started to get a worried. He saw her holding an envelope and reached out to take it, he was mind blowned to see that she was accepted to such a prestigious school.

"Wow , this is amazing news Geets. Let's go to that restaurant joint that you love and celebrate"

She declined and walked off. "Geets , what's the matter?" , Avi asked while running after her.

" Nothing. I just don't know if I should go. I would have to leave everyone, everything behind...I'll have to leave You behind" , she said getting all teary.

" Don't worry about me, or anything. Everything will still be the same and I will still be here once you come back"

**** The Day****

" Passengers from flight A32768, please proceed to the departure hall"

" Well , go on now, it's time," , Avi said while hugging her.

' I don't want to go there. I know none there", Geetha sadly said.

After much coaxing she finally took her hand luggage and headed towards the departure hall. She stopped half way and turned around . He was still there waiting for her to leave. She could see the pain and sadness in his eyes. He was losing his other half, his twin sister but had to plaster a smile as he knew this was for her own good - for her future.

"Sunn Raha Hai Na Tu"

All of a sudden the song started playing in the a airport. She was unable to keep it together any longer and ran to Avi . They hugged for a good 5 minutes. Time had stopped for them, everything was at perfect harmony for those 5 minutes.

" You have to go now Geets", Avi said quickly wiping away his tears.

They turned their backs on each other and headed to their respective destinations, and that's how they were separated , to continue on their own journey.

Moment of Realization

Loneliness, is often misconceived. Loneliness is not always a bad thing. I honestly have been a lonely person since childhood. I didn't even get along with my cousins. Every family gathering, the similar scenario will occur ; cousins gather and play whilst I sit alone at the corner and amuse myself. Some may consider my condition rather pitiful. Well I did too. As I grew up, I began to accept being a lonely soul and went about with my daily life. I had a few aquaintances in school, but none who I could address as a friend. When I was 9, I grew close to 2 girls from my class It was pure bliss and joy to have friends to talk to and share stories. However, our friendship was short lived. It was a rather teary separation as both of them went to different schools the following year. So there I was again back at square one - lonely.  We still do keep in touch but the separation took a toll on our friendship as we aren't as close as we used to be. The following year I befriended 2 girls, for the sake of companionship and to blend in with the crowd. I was foolish to think I was part of the click, when I was merely being made use of.

God works in the weirdest ways possible. When we entered High School we were put in different classes. I was all alone in my new class, I didn't know anybody in my class. At first I was soo upset with this new changes, being alienated from my friends as we were in different classes now. I slowly began to realize my friends true colours. I was left baffled as I really trusted them and thought we were friends. For the sake of not being branded as a lone ranger I just tagged along with them, it was torture especially when I knew their true intentions. After a year or so, I got fed up of putting on a mask and torturing myself. Hence, I distanced myself from them slowly. I spent my lunch break  studying or reading books. Surprisingly, I was happier and more at peace being alone. That was my AHA Moment, as Oprah would say. From that on, I began to observe people around me. In time my observation skills improved, to the point where I could see when someone was genuinely happy, sad and etc. After a while I started observing everyone in a different perspective. To take a step back from the hectic, dramatic and stressful atmosphere and just see how people act, react, their body movement and the list goes on. This was an eye opening experience as I learnt to not judge people so easily and to live my life on my own terms no matter what comes. Well this discovery of life at such a tender age wouldn't have been possible if I was not given that moment of loneliness. God knows what's good for you and when to give certain things to you. So be patient and believe. Though I have befriended many from different walks of life, but I still do like my moments of loneliness - I now call it , Moment of Self Reflection. It has a better ring to it, and doesn't sound so mundane. I would like to end this with a note - Loneliness does have its perks. It made me a better Me for myself, my family and my friends. Thank you Lord for always being my Guardian angel and watching out for me.
